Alto 800 is now simply Alto
The old Maruti Alto 800 is now updated with a new name ‘Alto’ i.e. the word ‘800’ been removed.
The new lineup will be named as Alto followed by the yearly update. The car had received ‘800’ suffix in 2012 to make its 1.0L engine identifiable.
New Alto 2019 is safer than the old Alto 800
As compared to the old Alto 800 model, the new Alto 2019 model is safer. The new Alto has been equipped with a driver side airbag, ABS with EBD, rear parking sensors, high-speed alert system, and driver and side passenger seat belt reminder. In comparison, the old Alto 800 was only available with a driver side airbag in the optional variants.
New Alto is the first entry-level car to comply with BS6 norms
The introduction of a BS-6 engine is the biggest update in 2019 Alto model. The 800 cc petrol engine complies the BS6 emission norms. The only other Maruti car to comply other than Alto currently is Baleno.
Alto 2019 outputs 48PS power and 69Nm of peak torque. The car continues to be available with a 5-speed manual transmission.
On the other hand, the outgoing Alto 800 had a 796cc petrol engine. It can produce 47PS power and 69NM of peak torque. It also has the same 5-speed manual gearbox.
Mileage of New Alto vs old Alto 800
In terms of mileage, the old Alto 800 performs slightly better than new Alto 2019 with 24.7 kmpl. On the other hand, the introdution of BS-6 compliant engine has reduced the mileage of 2019 Alto model. It is now 22.05 kmpl.
2019 Alto Vs Alto 800 price differences
2019 Maruti Suzuki Alto starting prices begins from 2.94 Lakhs which goes all the way upto 3.71 Lakhs. The old Alto was available for Rs 2.67 Lakh. In this way Alto 2019 is Rs 27,000 more expensive than existing Alto 800. Similarly, the Alto 2019’s top model is Rs 24,000 more expensive than older Alto model.
