The Datsun Go Plus is the first ever compact MPV (multi-purpose vehicle) from Datsun in India. The MPV comes in a total of four variants with a petrol engine. In point of fact, the Datsun Go Plus is a stretched version of the Datsun GO hatchback, which aims to provide better power, more style, more seats, more space and more practicality. The Datsun Go Plus is a 7 seater car that is suitable for large families and, at the same time, it has a decent amount of luggage space.
The Datsun Go Plus is priced in the range of Rs 3.82 lakh to Rs 4.79 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom, Delhi. The Datsun Go Plus competes with the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and Honda Mobilio.
ENGINE AND SPECIFICATIONS
The Datsun Go Plus is powered by the DOHC based 1.2 litre, 1198 cc, 12 valve, three cylinder petrol engine that produces a maximum power output of 67 BHP at 5000 rpm and a maximum torque of 104 Nm at 4000 rpm. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via an advanced five-speed manual transmission. Besides, the car has good NVH levels.
The car is capable of reaching 100 kmph mark in about 13.89 seconds with a top speed of 145 to 155 kmph. The ARAI rated fuel efficiency figure for the Datsun Go Plus is 20.62 kmpl, which is the best in the MPV segment. In addition, the car gets a 35 litre of fuel tank capacity.
EXTERIOR
The Datsun Go Plus is a good looking car. The front of the car comes with large hexagonal shaped radiator grille with chrome surrounds and 3-D shaped head lamps with integrated turn indicators while the rear comes with a radiant taillight cluster. The side profile of the car looks elegant because of its neatly engraved fenders and expressive lines. The blackened pillars give the car a decent look too.
Moreover, the Datsun Go Plus has stylish alloy wheels, body colour bumpers, roof rails, high mounted stop lamp, passenger side outside mirror and a rear spoiler.
The Datsun Go Plus has about 3995 mm length, 1635 mm width and 1490 mm height of dimensions and, at the same time, the car comes with a long wheelbase of 2450 mm along with a minimum ground clearance of 170 mm. The Datsun Go Plus is available with a choice of 5 colours- Ruby, Gold, White, Grey and Silver.
INTERIOR
The interior of the Datsun Go Plus is looks decent. As a matter of fact, the car offers abundant interior in this price range. The three spoke steering wheels of the Datsun Go Plus is large and easy to hold, at the same time the gear lever is dashboard mounted and can be operated easily. The seats have sufficient padding and there is plenty of head-room, leg-room, knee-room and shoulder-room for the front two rows of seats, though the third row seat is not attractive and is only good for small children.
The Datsun Go Plus comes with 48 litres of boot space, which can be increased up to 347 litres by folding the third row of seats. Other features of the Datsun Go Plus include an open glove box, power windows, driver side storage tray with ticket holder, passenger side storage tray, seat integrated headrests, four closable AC vents, bottle holders, interior room lamp, accessory socket, remote fuel lid opener, remote tailgate opener, Bluetooth, mobile docking system and a 2- Din based Audio system including an FM radio and a CD player.
PERFORMANCE
The Datsun Go Plus is a good performer. The double-pivot front suspension of the car helps to keep the ride soft and quiet. The MPV gives a pleasant handling experience. On the breaking front, the car has ventilated discs at the front and drum at the rear.
In terms of safety, the Datsun Go Plus comes equipped with an optional driver airbag. In addition to this, other safety features of the car include three point seatbelts, central locking system, child lock and an engine immobilizer.
ADVANTAGES
The Datsun Go Plus is a handsome car. In fact, this is the only car in its price range to offer a third row seat. The MPV comes with the 2+3+2 seating arrangement. The seats of the car are comfortable.
Moreover, the Datsun Go Plus has 22 mm ventilated disc brakes in the front, which is the largest in the class. The suspension of the car is brilliant and ride is decent. It has also good NVH levels.
DRAWBACKS
The major drawback of the Datsun Go Plus is, it does not come with an ABS, that has now become a standard. The car does not offer also keyless entry. The third row of seats are cramped. Besides, the MPV does not have traction control.
VERDICT
The Datsun Go Plus is a great car particularly for the first time buyer. The counterbalance system of the car gives a quiet and smooth ride along with a pleasant handling experience. The engine performance and fuel efficiency of the car is excellent, though the safety features could have been better. On the whole, the Datsun Go Plus is a perfect budget car for family purpose.
