The latest new sedan by Mahindra Verito has made a strong market presence with its numerous ads being aired through various mediums. They say it is a better, enhanced and upgraded version of their collaboration with Renault, the Logan. This time around Verito has got the solo Mahindra tag with no Renault collaboration. Mahindra claims it’s going to be a luxury sedan with features exciting enough to buy it with no second thoughts. The following section takes you through the review of the Mahindra Verito and will eventually give you clear picture of how correct Mahindra’s claims are.
Engine and technical specifications
Mahindra Verito has got both petrol and diesel engine options for the buyers. So you get the advantage of choosing between the petrol and diesel variants. There are 3 engine options Verito offers you in its variants. The first is the 1.4 litres, the second 1.5 litres and the third is the 1.6 litres engine. The petrol engine is available in 1.4 litres and 1.6 litres variant. With a satisfactory displacement of 1390 cc the engine has got 4 cylinders and 5 speed manual gearboxes. The power generated by this 1.4 litre engine is 75 hp at 5500 rpm and the maximum torque of 110 Nm at 3000 rpm. The 1.5 litre engine gives you a maximum power of 65 hp at 4000 rpm and peak torque of 160 Nm at 2000 rpm. It has been given an MPFI fuel system that will ensure maximum power output by the engine.
Exterior design
The Mahindra Verito comes with nice colour choices which are java brown, twilight blue, fiery black, toreador red, diamond white and mist silver. These colours are definitely stunning to look at. The Verito has got an aerodynamic design making it better looking as compared to the Logan. The body coloured bumpers and the chrome grille add to the look of the car. In not so favourable weather conditions the front fog lamps put up with a good job. The head lamp has been given a beautiful look with an unusual design which holds the attention of the onlooker. Nothing new can be seen in the rear view mirror which has got an ordinary look. The side mouldings of the car which are body coloured look attractive and so does the spoiler. The roof rail has been given the chrome touch to make it look elegant. Mahindra has done its best to attract the customers this time around but with so many beautiful cars already in the market it becomes a little difficult for the Verito to hold customer’s attention to it.
Interiors
The interiors of the Verito are a notch above the Logan taking the Mahindra lovers by surprise. The interior space just like the Logan is good in Verito too. The rear has got 3 headrests ensuring maximum comfort for the passengers. The gear shift knob has got a sporty look. The seats with the leather look give a smoother and classier feel. The knick knacks that are carried on a day to day basis have ample space to be stored in. The rear door trim has got fabric used in it giving a nice look to the cabin. There is storage space in the centre console and the centre fascia has been painted silver with wooden look. The built-in lumbar support give comfort to the passenger and air conditioning is uniform throughout the cabin. Coming to its safety features the Verito has got mainly ABS, EBD, electric window child lock, adjustable front seat belts, anti-theft encoded safety system, headlamp levelling device, child proof rear door locks, laminated windshield, driver airbags and collapsible steering wheel among its many other safety features.
Performance
Verito is capable of giving a satisfactory mileage of 12 kmpl and the diesel mileage of 15 kmpl in the city. The basic driving experience in a Verito is no doubt pretty smooth but in rough terrain driving becomes choppy and inconsistent. As we all know from the Logan, Mahindra is not a master of excellent driving experience. The handling is fine within the basic driving but makes you push through the more adventurous driving. So it is not wise to expect a fabulous job from Verito in your driving experience. If have got that adventurous streak then you must opt for the XUV500 by Mahindra, a good looking suave SUV which will guarantee an adventurous ride. Nevertheless, Verito is far better than Logan.
Pros
- Enhanced looks over Logan
- Good fuel economy by the diesel engine
- Spacious interiors
- Good overall features and the safety features
Cons
- An average driving experience
- Not so beautiful exteriors
- Price range too high
Verdict
Mahindra has definitely worked harder and brought for the Indian customers the brand new Verito which they say is their luxurious sedan. But due to lovely looking luxury sedans already available in the market in the same or lesser price range, it becomes a little difficult to go for the Mahindra Verito. Our advice, research well before you buy this one!
