Engine and technical specifications
The engines available in Swift are 1.2 litres petrol and 1.3 litres diesel. Both of them are from the K series of Maruti Suzuki’s engines. The 1.2 litres 1197 cc petrol engine has got a Double Over Head Camshaft technology and is Bharat Stage IV compliant. It is capable of developing 87 PS peak power at 6000 rpm. The maximum torque developed by this engine is 114 Nm at 4000 rpm. The top speed of this engine is 160 kmph.
The 1.3 litres 16 valves 1248 cc DDiS engine again has got the Double Over Head Camshaft technology to reduce the noise, harshness and vibration levels. The peak power developed by this engine is 75 PS at 4000 rpm and top torque of 190 Nm at 2000 rpm. The top speed of this engine is 152 kmph.
Both the engines have got a five speed manual transmission gearbox. The tyre size is 165/80 R14 and 165/70 R14 depending on the variant. The front suspension is Mac Pherson Strut with Coil spring and the rear one is the Torsion beam with spring coil. The Swift has got front ventilated disk brakes and rear drum brakes. The ground clearance of this hatchback comes to 170 mm and the wheelbase has been made 40 mm longer than before. The exterior measurements of the car are 3850 mm length, 1530 mm height and 1695 mm width.
Exterior designing

With the new design of the tailgate the boot space still remains small. The cabin is done up in black colour and the dashboard and centre console styling has been made more elegant and beautiful. The multi information LCD displays trip, time, temperature, fuel efficiency etc. The A.C vent knobs, door handles all have got the chrome touch now.
Performance
The mileage given out by the diesel variant of the Swift is 22.9 kmpl in the city and 23.8 kmpl on highways as claimed by the company which is superb! The petrol variant on the other hand offers 14.4 kmpl in the city and 18.6 kmpl on the highways which is again good. The petrol engine takes 12.6 seconds to cross 100 kmph mark and the diesel engine takes 14.8 seconds for the same. The central door locking facility is given in the car. The safety features of the car include the seat height adjustment for the driver, Anti-Lock Braking System with brake assist, Electronic Brake force distribution and Intelligent Computerised Anti-Theft System. Seatbelt pre-tensioners and dual SRS front airbags have been deployed too in the car. The body has been made more robust for the safety of the passengers and driver in an accidental case.
