The largest automobile company of the country, Maruti Suzuki has strengthened its position in the domestic market during this financial year. For the first time in a decade, the top five selling models are of Maruti cars.
Between April – September 2017, with sale of 132,380 units, the small car Alto is on the top in the chart. The list is followed by Dzire, Baleno, Swift and Wagon R. While, Maruti Suzuki has seven cars in the top 10 selling models.
Maruti’s market share exceeded 50 percent :
In the first six months of the current financial year, Maruti Suzuki has a car in every two passenger vehicles sold in the country. During this period, Maruti Suzuki’s market share was 50.4 per cent.
In the first six months of the current financial years, Maruti Suzuki’s close competitors Hyundai Motor India and Mahindra & Mahindra (M & M) market share stood at 16.2 per cent and 7.4 per cent respectively.
Superb Performance of Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza :
In passenger car space, Maruti Suzuki maintained its dominance with 56.6 per cent market share. In this, Baleno and Ciaz have a major role. At the same time, Vitara Brezza has performed excellent in the utility vehicle segment. Maruti Suzuki’s share in the utility vehicle segment is 28.24 per cent.
On the other hand, Mahindra & Mahindra’s market share was 26.04 per cent. In the first six months of the financial year, Maruti Suzuki left the industry behind both production and sales fronts.
Between April – September 2017, the wholesale market volume of Maruti Suzuki has increased 16.62 per cent to 822,475 units in the local market.
